Garmalad Arabic Font

A distorted and fun Arabic font which brings a lot of diverse emotions! Garmalad font is playing with standard and traditional way of Right to Left Arabic script. Based on Naskh, letters are designed in a deformed and disintegrated way to make it a typographic artistic typeface at the end. This font is a great choice for all graphic designers, typographers and visual artists.

“Garmalad” means “black pepper” in some areas of Guilan. And because the word has a special weight and mood, and I wanted one of the 47fonts to be named in Rashti, I chose this for it, which of course fits the overall vibe of the font: It’s spicy and sharp! The shifting and jumping up and down of the letters from the baseline and the tiny dots and embellishments I added to some of the letters further enhance this feeling.

When you write with it, you will notice that it can create a sense of uncertainty, uneasiness, and worry for your headlines, poster design, and typographic artworks. This dramatic Arabic font can also create a nostalgic atmosphere and remind us of old texts. The small spacing between letters and their compactness make them take up less space and impose their heavy weight in the frame.

Shahab Siavash, the designer has done more than 47 fonts and got featured on Behance, Microsoft, McGill University research website, Hackernoon, Fontself, FontsInUse,... Astaneh and Hezareh text and headline fonts which is one of his latest designs, already got professional typographers, lay-out and book designers' attention as well as some of the most recognizable publications in Arabic/Persian communities.
